Parking Permits

For other common parking problems, see the following:

  • Abandoned Autos: Call (415) 781-JUNK. You'll also find a flyer for abandoned autos on the DPT's Web site.

  • Blocked Driveways, Streets, or Sidewalks: (415) 553-1200. The DPT's Web site offers printable flyers for blocked driveways and sidewalks that you can put on violator's windshields. See our Blocked Driveways article for more information.
  • Broken Parking Meters: Call (415) 550-2739.

  • Color Curb Program: A driveway "red zone" makes it illegal for people to park within a certain distance of the edge of your driveway. Again, see Blocked Driveways for more information.

  • Contractors Monopolizing Street Parking for Ongoing Projects: Permits for "No Parking" signs for construction jobs and for street repair are issued by the Department of Public Works' Street Construction Coordination Center. You can reach them at (415) 554-7222.

  • Parking, Traffic Signs and Poles in Need of Repair: Call (415) 554-9780.

  • Details on Parking Fines and Procedures: See the DPT's Parking Ticket Information and Citation Penalty Schedule. You may also pay your parking tickets on the DPT's Web site. Note that meter rates, parking fees and fines have recently increased, so be careful not to break the law!
